Communal Kitchen and Function Sky Lounge and Level 1 common area BBQ and function center.
Detail
A dynamic mixed use tower in Melbourne’s CBD, MY80 caters to a sophisticated set of high-rise dwellers seeking communal spaces and facilities not found in older buildings.
The 55-level tower wears a richly detailed, rhythmic skin whose folded geometry is predominantly horizontal, with fluid, vertical elements providing an organic connection between each level. Curved junctions soften the façade and frame compelling views of the city and beyond from apartment balconies. The contrasting lines, curves and rhythms are echoed in the interiors. In places, seating appears to be cut out, rather than attached to, the walls, while curved tables are complemented by chairs with strong geometric lines.
Public and communal spaces enrich the activity within. The ground floor is occupied by retail, with a residents’ lounge and business centre as a mezzanine to the main foyer. A double height communal terrace on level 15 delivers a pool, designer kitchen, barbecue and cinema and the building is crowned by a rooftop communal terrace and sky lounge.
